Today. Is. The. Day!!!
3 years ago, in a little community called Generalist World, a joke was cracked. It went a lil something like… 🥁
Everyone has a day. Why don’t we have a day. We should have a day?!!
And in true generalist-fashion, we made it up. We picked a date, and said rightooo, who wants to host a meetup? That first year we had 25meetups. COOL, RIGHT? The following year, we picked another day, and had 80+ meetups. WOW, RIGHT? This year, we picked a day and have.. NEARLY 100 MEETUPS IN 40+ COUNTRIES
This is even more gob-smacking because our meetups are 100% led by volunteers. Fantastic people from Australia to Bangalore to Nigeria to Taiwan to Edinburgh who raise their hand to say.. this is important. I wanna meet more people like me.
What I hope you take away, whether you can join a meetup or not, is that you are really really really not alone out there. When i first started GW in 2022, it was because I had no generalist friends, no representation of a “different” career path, no confidence to own this squiggly skillset of mine.
And now, there’s quite literally tens of thousands of you who read this every week, thousands who will be gathering today, and millions who read and watch our career stuff each month.
So let me take this chance to raise a virtual glass of the finest kombucha to you.. THE GENERALISTS OF THE WORLD!!!!
